Antique museum quality study fragments of Ottoman period Turkish linen yaglik
towel with silk thread and gilt silver thread. Early to Mid-19th century,
Turkey.
Size: ~ 8" x 16" (~22 x 41 cm.)
Rare museum quality, Ottoman Turkish two-sided embroidery. The study
fragments are in reasonably good yet stressed condition, with loose threads,
fraying, fading and spotting. One side is more faded and some of the colors
have less intensity.
An excellent study piece of Ottoman Turkish embroidery work, showing various
materials, fibers, hand-loomed weaving, stitching techniques, use of vegetable
dyes and more. The fragments will help enhance the scholarly understanding of
this type of antique textiles.
